Grand Heritage Hotels is looking to increase the number of hotels it represents in Eastern Europe in 2000.
The consortium currently has one hotel in Poland, the Kadyny Palace Hotel in Tolkmicko, which joined at last year’s World Travel Market, and one in Estonia, Park Consul St Petersbourg in Tallinn, which joined in June 1999.
Grand Heritage joint managing director David Owen said:”The hotel in Poland has done very well since it joined and has reported a sharp increase in sales from the UK.
“Tourism to Poland is increasing fast as people feel more confident about visiting Eastern Europe. That’s why we are looking at possibilities in Hungary and the Czech Republic. There are a lot of high-quality hotels there that would fit into our portfolio,” he said.
Grand Heritage sales staff will be targeting suitable hotels throughout the year, promoting the benefits of becoming a member. The main advantages is that properties are easily accessible via a global distribution system and are heavily marketed through the Grand Heritage Web site.
Grand Heritage is currently sifting through the 1,000 enquiries made at this year’s World Travel Market.
