The planned public inquiry into development at Coventry
Airport will only deal with the interim passenger facility erected
by owner TUI.
The probe begins on February 1 2005, with a second inquiry
planned for later in the year to look at the airport’s new
£7 million terminal building.
The move comes after Warwick District Council threw out the
plans for a permanent terminal in September due to concerns over
car traffic in the surrounding area.
Meanwhile, Thomsonfly has confirmed the routes it will operate
from Robin Hood Airport and Bournemouth next year. The budget
airline will launch 11 routes from Robin Hood Airport near
Doncaster and seven from Bournemouth. Robin Hood will be linked
with 66 weekly flights to Palma, Pisa, Ibiza, Malaga, Jersey, Faro,
Prague, Alicante, Valencia, Dublin and Paris. A total of 41 flights
will be added at Bournemouth each week to Malaga, Valencia, Palma,
Faro, Pisa, Amsterdam and Paris.
Prices start at £15 one-way and the carrier aims to attract
an additional 600,000 passengers.
