A STRIKE which cancelled all of Irish Ferries’ sailings
and threatened the travel plans of 100,000 people has ended after
10 days.
All sailings on the Holyhead/Dublin and Pembroke/Rosslare routes
have now returned to normal after management and unions returned to
the negotiating table.
The fast ferry service from Holyhead to Dublin is resuming when
weather conditions improve.
The strike was called after Irish Ferries’ move to outsource
staff on its Rosslare and Cherbourg service sparked workers’ fears
the policy would be extended to all routes.
All 606 Irish Ferries employees laid off because of the strike
are being reinstated immediately.
