INTERACTIVE Corporation has split its business
into two in a bid to increase its share of the online travel market
and fight off rival Cendant.
IAC is the biggest online travel company in the world with its
Expedia brand at the forefront of its operations.
But Cendant has jumped to number two in the online travel market
following its purchases of Orbitz, Ebookers and Gullivers Travel
Associates, which owns online agency Octopus.
IAC’s travel companies – including Hotels.com – will operate
under its Expedia brand, while its non-travel operations, including
Ticketmaster, will fall under IAC.
