Talks planned to avoid Easter strike at Heathrow

Easter travellers face delays at Heathrow over the bank
holiday weekend if Aviance ground services fails to reach an
agreement with its 800 baggage handlers who are threatening strike
action.

Aviance is meeting the Transport and General Workers Union
tomorrow (March 17) for 11th-hour crisis talks. A union spokesman
said strikes are “possible” if the matter cannot be resolved.

He added the disagreement was over sickness entitlements for
workers who joined Aviance after losing their jobs when Swissport
collapsed last November.
