Argo Holidays includes smaller islands for 2000

GREECE specialist Argo Holidays has included a number of smaller islands in its main 2000 brochure after expressing fears agents were missing out on selling them.

Managing director Mathilde Robert said most of the smaller islands are included in a separate brochure which is largely sold direct.

“Agents had access to the small islands brochure, but the product tended to be marketed more directly,” she said. “Many of the most popular small islands have now been regrouped in the main brochure which will make them easier to sell for agents.”

Cruising has also been included in the main brochure. More than 20 islands are now featured in the programme, with Alonissos included for the first time.

Also new for 2000 are all-inclusive options in Crete, Rhodes, Kos and Marathon Coast.

Robert said the option has been included to satisfy customer demand. Their inclusion follows a similar move in the operator’s Cyprus programme.

“I don’t like the all-inclusive option,” said Robert. “I said it when they were introduced in Cyprus and I will say it again now. I do not see the appeal when you have so much to explore. But all-inclusives are something which customers have been asking about and we have to provide what they want.”

Wedding options have also been increased in the programme with 10 destinations now featured. New for 2000 are Zante, Kefalonia, Skiathos and Santorini.

Robert said growth of 10% is being targeted for 2000 which would take carryings to around 35,000. Prices lead in at £189 for seven days based on two people sharing in Corfu.

Argo’s Greece and Her Islands brochure – which inclu- des the lesser-known islands – will be launched shortly.
