Outgoing ABTA chief executive Ian Reynolds has scrapped
plans to retire and is looking for a part-time post either inside
or outside travel.
Reynolds, who announced his retirement after 11 years as ABTA
boss in February (Travel Weekly February 11), said he hopes to find
a role “with substance” rather than a non-executive position when
he leaves Newman Street in September.
Meanwhile, ABTA’s search for a replacement is making good
progress with more than 100 applications from “high-quality
candidates” from both outside and inside the industry, according to
Reynolds.
Applications have been whittled down to a list of around 20
which will be trimmed to six before shortlisted candidates are
interviewed by a panel comprising ABTA president Martin Wellings,
Federation of Tour Operators chairman Ian Ailles and ABTA board
members John Wimbleton, Steven Freudmann and Doreen McKenzie.
