EasyCruise sets sail for the Caribbean

EASYCRUISE started selling winter cruises to the Caribbean this week for just £9 per person per night.

Ports of call are: Bridgetown in Barbados; Kingstown in St Vincent; Fort de France in Martinique; Bequia in the Grenadines; St George’s in Grenada; and Castries in St Lucia.

The cut-price cruiseline said its decision to enter the Caribbean market came after a successful start to its summer season in the French and Italian Rivieras. The company is also considering introducing a second ship to the fleet for 2006 or 2007. The second vessel would be used for cruises in the Greek Islands and Arabian Gulf. EasyCruise is considering whether to order a purpose-built ship or buy an existing one.

More than 90 nationalities have cruised on the 170-berth EasyCruiseOne this summer, with the average age of customers being 33. The cruiseline is hoping its combination of low-price flexible itineraries will prove popular this winter.

One difference, however, will be that passengers will be expected to be on board by midnight as opposed to 4am on its Mediterranean cruises because the night life in the Caribbean tends to finish earlier.
