Operators to Egypt are seeing sales to Sharm el-Sheikh, bounce back, but say winter capacity is being reviewed.
Peltours has put prices back to levels before the bombings, which ripped through Sharm el-Sheikh on July 23.
A week at the four-star Concorde El Salaam is now £599, up from the reduced price of £499 two days after the attacks.
Sales and marketing director Darren Panto said: “Sales are back on full price and we are searching for availability. Sharm is back with a vengeance.”
Thomson planning and trading manager Alex Loftus said cancellations have slowed right down, probably due to normal booking conditions applying since August 1.
The operator has five flights a week to Sharm and hasn’t made any changes to its flying programme. However, winter capacity is being looked at. Thomson trebled capacity for its winter sun 05/06 brochure.
MyTravel director of product and pricing Brendan Fox said booking terms and conditions are back to normal. He added the operator would like to maintain winter capacity, but was having to consider the sales programme. He said:“We don’t have the same programme as TUI, but I’m hopeful we will be able to maintain the capacity.”
MyTravel operates three weekly flights to Sharm during winter, four weekly in summer.
The Egyptian Tourist Authority is putting together its Red Sea Riviera advertising campaign for mid-September, to appear across all media. The campaign had been planned before the bombings. Egyptian State Tourist Office regional director Khaled Ramy said: “Sharm is full of tourists; people haven’t been put off.” He said visa information requests are a sign things are back to normal.
