As we discovered in the previous module, you could easily spend a holiday exploring Pennsylvania’s historical sites – and still not fit them all in. But the state’s history is just part of a [continuum] that leads right up to the present day, and includes some of the finest art, architecture and places of cultural interest that the US has to offer.

There’s more to see than you could cover in a fortnight, let alone a week. PA culture runs from simple, austere communities in Amish country to theme parks and interactive museums to internationally acclaimed music (hip-hop group The Roots, to name just one act, hail from Philadelphia).

And it doesn’t stop there. Which Bill Murray film is set in a Pennsylvania town? Where would you find a replica of Rome’s St Peter’s Basilica? And does beer really flow from the ‘Eternal Tap’ in Saint Mary’s? You’ll need to find the answer to all these questions and more to pass this module.

On the way we’ll also explore PA’s two big urban centres, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh – and learn to use the interactive maps of each city available on visitpa.com.

Look at these sections of visitpa.com, then try answering the questions that follow.

Good luck!
