Just A Drop trek proves popular

TRAVEL charity Just A Drop said it has had an overwhelming response to its appeal for walkers to join its fundraising trek to the Lost City of Petra.

More than 200 people have applied for details on the Jordan trek, from April 1-8 2006, but places are limited to 50 people. A spokeswoman admitted organisers may now consider taking more than one group. However, the actual number of candidates will not be known until completed application forms are returned.

Charity founder Fiona Jeffery urged walkers to commit to the walk quickly by sending in confirmation slips, with a £200 cheque and pledge to raise a minimum of £2,300. “We’re greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm from all sectors of the industry but it’s vital people start to commit,” she said.

The walk is organised with the Jordan Tourism Board and Discover Adventure to raise funds for water projects globally. The official launch is at Flemings Hotel, 13 Half Moon Street, London, on October 12, at 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
