Ecuador Supplement 2005

At Travel Weekly we like to leave no mountain unscaled and no river uncrossed to bring you the best destination reports.

However, we don’t normally have to take this pledge too literally – well, not least until we went to Ecuador.

The destination is one of the biggest selling Latin American countries in the UK, primarily because of the stunning wildlife on the Galápagos.

But now Ecuador’s Tourism Promotion Fund is hoping more visitors will come to its three mainland worlds – the Andes, Amazonia and the Pacific Coast.

So to bring you the best of both mainland Ecuador and the Galápagos, we’ve canoed through piranha-infested waters, crossed snake-filled swamps and straddled both hemispheres.  Now it’s over to you.

With the help of tour operators, this guide is packed with ideas on how to sell Ecuador, examples of the different packages that can be put together and tips on making sure you sell the right holiday to the right clients.

Take inspiration from the wealth of different activities on offer in Ecuador, whether it’s riding a horse through the Cotopaxi National Park – magnificent volcanoes in the distance – or searching for caimans (small alligators) by torchlight in a black water lake in Amazonia.

With Latin America currently enjoying booming visitor numbers, there’s no better time to become an expert and start earning some serious commission – as well as giving clients the trip of a lifetime that will keep them coming back for more.
