Let’s face it, selling flights just ain’t what it used to be. Apart from the obvious issue of vanishing commission and ongoing concerns over insurance, airlines themselves are developing at a fast pace to adjust to a leaner market.
Business class is a classic example. As more executives consider the bottom line, swanky seats up front are becoming
a rare sight on short-haul flights. But a desire for luxury, space and privacy are driving massive class innovations in long-haul.
As if that wasn’t enough to get to grips with, two cutting-edge new aircraft are set to change our skies in next couple of years and will hopefully make flying a little cleaner. The double-decker Airbus A380 will have 35% more seats that the Boeing 747-400 but the economy per mile of a family car. It’ll also generate half the noise of a 747 on take off. Meanwhile the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be nippier than its peers but use 20% less fuel.
Keeping abreast of these changes can be a bumpy ride, but inside you’ll find all the information you need to sell flights with renewed authority.
Once you’ve read the features why not test your knowledge with our quiz on page 20? If you get stuck, most of the answers can be found inside the supplement. Have a good flight.
