THOMAS Cook has got itself out of a tight spot by changing its policy on leg wear for female staff.
Agents had complained the company’s insistence that female employees wear only 16-denier flesh-coloured tights in the winter was unfair.
Following discussions with union Transport Salaried Staff’s Association, Thomas Cook has agreed to be more flexible. Staff can now wear thicker tights, which can be blue or flesh-coloured, or go bare-legged.
TSSA travel trade officer Rick Justham said: “We pointed out that other tights would look smart under a Thomas Cook uniform.”
In an e-mail memo to staff, Thomas Cook said thick, woolly, patterned and black tights are still not acceptable as “this would not look aesthetically right with the predominantly blue uniform”.
