IF your other half is lacklustre in the love department, a new hotel brand has a secret weapon that could put the passion back.
It may have been originally mixed by Benevento monks, but today, New Hall – a manor house in the West Midlands – is using an ancient herbal liqueur called Strega in a special Valentine’s cocktail. Called The True Love Potion, Strega is said to have aphrodisiac qualities.
Only two people know the Strega recipe, which used to be mixed in a secret room in the hotel. The room was only discovered when the building was turned into a hotel 18 years ago, and today it is used as a private dining room.
Prices lead in at at a commissionable £176 per person for two nights on a bed-and-breakfast basis, including one dinner and a cocktail.
