Jobs to go at Bridge Travel

BRIDGE Travel staff face the threat of redundancy as the BCT Travel Group undergoes a restructure.

A spokesman refused to say exactly how many of BCT’s 400 staff could lose their jobs following the closure of the Broxbourne office in Hertfordshire but it is believed to be fewer than 100. A 30-day staff consultation is currently underway.

The company said it is doing everything it can to find alternative employment for staff at Cresta and sister brand Tradewinds, while a homeworking operation is also being set up to develop the direct sales arm.

The spokesman stressed the restructure would not affect the Bridge Travel brand as a whole. It will still be sold through the trade.

He added: “We’ve currently got three sites with a lot of shared functions and shared back offices and it doesn’t make sense.”
