THE hotels sector is set to follow the airline industry into the mass use of online check-in, according to Hilton Hotels Corporation.
Commercial development and information services senior vice-president Tim Davis said: “Guest services will be the next important battleground for hotels.”
Davis said the group is investing money in relationship technology that could eventually lead to online check-in and potentially even check-in through other media, including mobile phones.
“The only place people can check in is the front desk,” he said. “But we should allow customers to check in whenever they want, wherever they are and through whatever channel they want to.”
