SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has ruled out moving deeper in to the travel sector.
The retailer, which made record profits of £2.2 billion last year, already has a white-labelled Lastminute.com product and sells travel insurance.
Tesco.com chief executive Laura Wade-Gery told Travolution Summit delegates: “We have limited experience of travel and have no plans to change that. I would never say never but there are more obvious areas for us to move into.”
However, Wade slammed the travel industry for not putting the consumer at the centre of everything it does. “The focus has been on getting people to book and there has been less of a focus on their experience,” she said.
