THERE is still a lot of work to be done to improve perceptions of travel as a good career, according to training experts.
Springboard UK development director John Humphreys said many parents had yet to be convinced travel provided good career prospects to young college and university leavers. “We need to get the message across that this is a great industry to work in,” he added.
Humphreys urged the industry to play its part by working more closely with colleges and universities to promote travel as a career and by taking on more students for work placements.
The industry needs to make itself aware of the different tourism courses students are taking. “It’s an important issue that needs to be addressed,” he added.
