Call for crackdown on rogue web recruiters

CANDIDATES are being put up for jobs without their knowledge by unscrupulous recruitment companies who trawl CVs on Internet job boards and pass them on to clients, according to New Frontiers.

Managing director Julia Feuell said the practice is against the Employment Agencies Regulations and contravenes the Data Protection Act, and she has written to clients to warn them of the dangers.

Feuell said: “We’ve worked hard to provide a good service, only to find another agency benefiting from shortcuts.”

“Clients should ask the agency questions about candidates, such as how much money they earn, and why they want to join a new company,” said Feuell.

“If they can’t answer these questions, and another agency has sent the CV and has properly selected the candidate, they should go with the professional agency.”
