SilverJet ready to launch

SilverJet has bought carrier FlyJet and aircraft leasing company Skylease in a deal that could be worth up to £5.5 million.

FlyJet gives the Trans-Atlantic all business class airline an Air Operator’s Certificate, while the purchase of Skylease secures the lease of  a Boeing 767 aircraft.

The £4 million deal could rise to £5.5 million with the money being paid over the next three years.

Chief executive Lawrence Hunt said the carrier will be ready to launch within four months, with the date to be announced in October.

Last week, the airline secured an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence from the UK Civil Aviation Authority. The airline will fly out of a private terminal at Luton to New York.
