NORTHWEST law firm Neil Myerson Solicitors has launched a travel and leisure division to support local small to medium-sized companies in the sector.
The Altrincham firm, endorsed by ABTA, has decided to set up the division as it already has up to 70 travel industry clients.
Head of the travel department Emma Lewis said it was a logical progression as local travel SMEs lack legal help to comply with the raft of legislation and codes of conducts in the industry.
“There are about 500 potential clients in the area,” she said.
“Despite this there doesn’t appear to be anybody offering such services in the region, yet there are a few in London and other parts of the country.”
Lewis said travel and leisure is becoming increasing important to the northwest’s economy, which is worth £7 billion per year.
The division will help tour operators, travel agents and hoteliers with contracts, contracting, legislation and industry bodies’ code of conduct compliance, avoiding and defending consumer complaints and advice in relation to trading standards investigations.
Lewis said the law firm would offer travel companies a number of payment options including an annual retainer and payment on an ad-hoc project basis.
