Leeds-based QHotels has bought the luxury independent hotel group Marston Hotels in a deal worth £180 million.
The deal takes the number of properties in QHotels’ portfolio from just nine to 21 and is part of a rapid expansion planned by the chain that was set up in 2003 with just three hotels in Manchester, Leeds and Warwick.
A new investment and development plan will be unveiled in the New Year, following a £65 million refurbishment programme of its existing nine hotels.
QHotels managing director Michael Purtill said: “This is an exciting time for us, Marston is a highly reputable hotel chain with properties situated in key strategic location across the UK.
“The 12 hotels are already well established in their own right and we recognise they have many qualities that they can bring to QHotels, one area in particular being a very strong health and leisure brand “Reflections”, which is something we are keen to develop and share across the group.”
