EasyJet has agreed a deal with Mondial UK to include Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI) in its travel insurance policies offered to UK passengers.
The low-cost carrier said the move is in response to Civil Aviation Authority concerns about the impact recent failures of airlines have had on passengers.
EasyJet spokeswoman Beatriz Fernandez said: “The introduction of SAFI in to EasyJet’s travel insurance product demonstrates our commitment to all passengers, this move will give customers reassurance and encourage other airlines to offer the same for their customers.”
Mondial UK director of corporate and travel Steve Hook added: “We are delighted to work with EasyJet to bring this innovative new offering to the travel insurance marketplace.”
