The Niche Cruise Alliance has appointed Hurtigruten UK managing director Iain Cottam as its new spokesman.
He takes over from Viking River Cruise chairman Graham Clubb who steps down after two years in the role.
“We have achieved our first objective, which was to create a forum for specialist niche operators to communicate their individuality through one channel,” said Clubb. “I know Iain will continue with the next phase of development for the alliance.
The alliance consists of six specialist operators including African Safari Club, Hurtigruten, Orient-Express, Star Clippers, St Helena and Viking River Cruises, formerly Travel Renaissance.
Cottam said: “We need to ensure the Niche Cruise Alliance supports the travel agent with training and educational activities that demonstrate the diversity of destination lead products within the alliance.
“Agents need to recognise the high average earning potential from alliance products especially at a time when commissions are being driven down.”
