Silverjet granted US licence – 23 Nov 2006

Start-up business class-only airline Silverjet has been given the go ahead to sell tickets in the US after being granted a licence by the US Department of Transportation.

The airline, that will fly between Luton and Newark at a cost of £999 per person, is on track to operate its first flight on January 25, nine months after an Initial Public Offering on the AIM stock exchange.

It will join EOS and MAXjet pionerring the low-cost long-haul business class airline model on the world’s most profitable route and has plans to eventually operate 30 flights with expansion in India and China planned.

Lawrence Hunt, Chief Executive of Silverjet, commented:  “We are now set for our first London-New York flight on January 25 next year.

“Flying with Silverjet will mean that you can turn up at a private jet terminal just 30 minutes before your flight, sleep in a luxury award winning flat bed and choose what you want to eat when you want to eat it.”
