Hotels.tv search for Britain’s ‘greenest’ hotel – 24 Nov 2006

Online video hotel and booking portal Hotels.tv is looking for Britain greenest indepdendently-run hotel.

Setting a benchmark for what it expects from contendes it has highlighted the Bedruthan Steps Hotel in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall as a shining example.

Hotels.tv will judge properties according to a number of criteria including energy consumption, waste management, recycling, and use of local suppliers.

The portal’s founder Harrison Brown said: “Green credentials are playing an increasingly important role in consumers’ choice of hotel. Many of the major chains are proving their commitment and being rewarded for their achievement.

“However, independets are finding it more difficult to compete on this basis. With this in mind, we want to investigate just how independents are greeing their businesses, and highlight their success.

“I recently stayed at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel and of al the hotels I have reviewed in this country, it really stood out in terms of its environmental credentials and commitment to the local community. We want to use this as a benchmark by which we will judge others.”
