Barbados scheme relaunched

THE Barbados Tourism Authority is relaunching its agents’ incentive scheme from next year, offering gifts in return for bookings to the island.

New UK-based regional sales manager Jennifer Barrow said the scheme would be rebranded Barbados First and be targeted at about 500 agents.

She said: “When we ran this before we tried to bring in all agents and in the end very few signed up. This time we are focusing on agents who are interested in Barbados.”

Agents will be sent a Barbados First folder in January with details of the scheme, which awards points for selling any tour operator package to Barbados. Points can be exchanged for gifts. A top prize, yet to be decided, will be awarded to the agent who has the most points by the start of next year’s World Travel Market.
