Travel 2 Travel 4 to bolster call centre support – 14 Dec 2006

Travel 2 Travel 4 is driving most flight-only bookings on line and recruiting more call centre staff in a bid to address service concerns.

Managing director Maria Whiteman said driving all but the most complicated flight schedules on line would make savings which could be ploughed into the tour operation business which will be strengthened by the 50 new employees.

She said: “As a tour operator, I want service to be the differential but that won’t happen over night, we need to develop high service levels in 2007 and have them in place by 2008.”

Whiteman added this would help drive the balance of flight-only to package bookings to the target of 50% each. Already it has dropped from 80% flight-only to 60% in the eight months since she joined.

She added increased training for staff would see them become experts in Australia, the Middle East and Africa.

She refused to comment whether Travel 2 Travel 4 was about to be subject to an acquisition, adding only: “There have been several companies in the last several months interested in buying Travel 2 which is great news for us as a business.”
