Walt Disney Attractions adds Paris park to reference guide

WALT Disney Attractions has introduced a new section on Disneyland Paris in its annual Travel Industry Reference Guide.

The newly published 2000 edition includes a stand-alone eight-page section on the theme park, which has been excluded from the guide in the past as it is operated by a separate arm of Disney.

Walt Disney Attractions’ travel industry marketing manager Mark Persad said the move was intended to create a one-stop guide to all Disney attractions for UK travel agents.

“Paris is the UK’s number one short-break destination, so Disneyland Paris is a necessary reference point for agents,” he said.

The 136-page guide also features an expanded section on Disney Cruise Line, which introduced a second ship, Disney Wonder, to its fleet earlier this year. A deck plan has been added for the first time.

Persad said 16,000 copies of the guide would be distributed to UK travel agents. A wrap-around cover features a competition based on information contained in it. The top prize is a seven-day trip to Disney World in Florida and a Disney cruise.

Meanwhile, Disney’s queue-busting Fastpass system has been introduced at Disneyland in California.

Fastpass, which is already in operation at Disney World in Florida, reduces time spent queuing for rides by giving people a computer assigned admission time.

At Disneyland, the system is already in operation at Space Mountain. Splash Mountain will be added on December 10, and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin on December 17. It’s A Small World Holiday is also due to be included in the scheme.
