BA strike delayed for 24 hours – 24 Jan 2007

The British Airways cabin crew strike has been postponed by 24 hours to allow for further negotiations.

The Transport and General Workers Union described the surprise move as a “goodwill gesture”.

If the dispute is not resolved, the strike will go ahead next week on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 3. T&G general secretary Tony Woodley said the postponement followed the personal intervention of Willie Walsh in the talks.

“This extends the time available to secure a settlement to the outstanding problems, and I hope that the company will now join us in making every effort to do so,” he said.
