Swallow Hotels

The Swallow Hotels name came into use in 1969 with the first hotel opening in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

In 1972, all hotels owned by Swallow’s then parent company Vaux were brought under the Swallow name creating a new group.

Swallow is now a 36-strong British chain of hotels in the three, four and five-star category with 5,000 rooms.

Swallow employs more than 5,000 people.

In 1998, Swallow’s gross turnover was just under £116m with profits of £32m, a year-on-year 14.5% increase.

This summer, the group decided to concentrate on its core business. It sold off its 659 tenanted pubs for £127m.
