Bill Savage has been appointed chairman of a new company being created to promote Cardiff as a tourism destination.
Savage will take up the position on Welsh national patron St David’s Day (March 1). He has 30 years travel experience, during which time he has been the managing director of Liverpool, Humberside, Leeds/Bradford and Coventry airports.
He has also been Manchester Airport’s executive director of business development and worked for Marketing Manchester.
The new company, which will promote the Welsh capital both domestically and internationally, is yet to be named and Savage’s first duties are to appoint a managing director and board members.
“Our success will be based on attracting new business, investment and visitors for Cardiff,” he said.
