ABTA has welcomed a Holiday Which? report which highlights the lack of protection consumers receive when putting together their own holiday arrangements.
The report highlighted to consumers that DIY holidays are not financially protected like packaged holidays. ABTA chief executive Mark Tanzer backed the report adding the laws have not kept pace with consumer booking habits.
More people now put together their own holidays than book a pre-arranged package. Tanzer reiterated the association’s call for the European Package Travel Directive to be re-written on the grounds it is out dated.
“All holidays and pre-arranged travel should be financially protected,” he said. “The laws have not kept up with consumer demand and developments in the travel industry.”
