English tourist attractions will soon appear on the in-car satnav system Tom Tom.
EnjoyEngland marketing director Michael Bedingfield said talks were under way which would see the country’s historical and cultural sites featured on the system by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, speaking during the same press briefing at last week’s British Travel Trade Fair in Birmingham, VisitScotland director of strategy, partnerships and communications Riddle Graham reiterated the importance of tourism, which brings in £4.2 billion annually and creates more than 200,000 jobs, to the Scottish economy.
He added: “We have very strong ambitions to grow toursim by 50% in the next 10 years.”
In addition, Visit London director of marketing Martine Ainsworth-Wells said the levels of spend in 2006 and was seeing bigger growth than visitor figures.
She said while visitor figures were up by 6%, the amount they spent last year grew by 9%.
