Accommodation only specialist Seligo has acquired Italian villa and hotel company Carefree Travel Group giving agents more access to product in the country.
The company, which trades as Carefree Italy and was primarily direct sale before, will be available for sale through Seligo in the next few weeks. The acquisition is part of Seligo’s strategy to acquire niche businesses.
Seligo managing director Diane Mosson said: “There are many low cost flights operated into Italy, and travel agents will now be able to dynamically package holidays utilising Seligo villas and hotels.
“We will have more than 1,000 villas and apartments throughout Italy, including Sicily and Sardinia, with a substantial presence in Tuscany where we have more than 250.”
The previous owners Angelo Carraro and David Davies, will be retiring, although Carraro will become a consultant to the industry.
