Travelodge saw revenue grow by 17% to £203.5 million in 2006, a rise which the company believes was driven by a massive increase in web sales.
Last year the hotel chain saw a 63% increase in web sales and the online channel now represents 83% of all bookings.
In 2006, a total of 4.9 million rooms were sold and 27 new Travelodge hotels were opened. The company now has 20,000 rooms open in the UK and Ireland and is targeting 32,000 rooms by 2010.
Travelodge chief executive Grant Hearn said the company would open 3,000 hotel rooms this year with London as a growth target.
He said: “We will open 1,000 new rooms in the capital during 2007, meaning we are well on the way to becoming the biggest hotelier in London by the Olypmics 2012.”
