Virgin Atlantic has launched a new daily flight schedule to the Kenyan capital Nairobi and revealed plans to launch a business-only airline.
The services to Nairobi, the airline’s 28th destination, are expected to deliver up to 25% more visitors to the city and the first flight arrived in Nairobi on Saturday.
Virgin Atlantic president Richard Branson said: “I am really pleased that Virgin Atlantic is now serving Nairobi, the airline’s fourth African destination.
“Nairobi is the gateway for the whole of East Africa and the Indian Ocean. I predict that its popularity will continue to grow.”
Meanwhile, the planned business-only airline will link five European cites – Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan and Frankfurt – to US cities including New York.
The service, designed to compete head-on with existing business-only operators like Silverjet and Maxjet, will be launched in the next 12-18 months.
