BA staff say airline offers poor value – 4 June 2007

Under half of British Airways’ staff believe the airline delivers value for money, according to one of the company’s own surveys.

The latest issue of staff newspaper BA News reveals that a staff survey in March found only 49 per cent of respondents agree the airline offers value.

Meanwhile just 31 per cent  were satisfied they had the tools and equipment to do a good job – eight percentage points lower than in a previous survey last September.

Satisfaction with the way departments are led and managed was slightly up on the earlier study, but still only at 34 per cent.

The survey followed a grim six months for BA, from the security alert in August through the delays due to fog at Christmas and threat of strikes earlier this year.

Director of engineering Gary Copeland told BA News: “The airline has faced a number of major challenges that have affected our customers’ experiences and have clearly affected our staff’s opinions and perceptions.”
