Anaheim’s regeneration project enters last phase


THE $4.2bn regeneration of Anaheim, the 1,100 acres surrounding Disneyland in California is entering its final phase.



The five-year project, described as the largest public/ private development in California’s history, will create a mega- resort for both leisure and business travellers, and is due for completion in mid-2001.



The main feature of the area will be Disney’s California Adventure, a 55-acre theme park, comprising a 300,000 sq ft entertainment area, the 750-room Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, and Downtown Disney.



The latter area will offer entertainment ranging from the House of Blues to restaurants and shops.



The expanded Anaheim Convention Centre will provide 40% more exhibition space.



The entire centre, offering 1.6m sq ft of meeting and exhibition space, will be ready by Christmas 2000.
