Bride Idol: Sussex agent wins wedding in Las Vegas – 12 June 2007

Travel agent Helen Blair has won a dream wedding in Las Vegas after winning Travel Weekly and Attraction World‘s Bride Idol competition with 1,592 votes.

Helen, one of four finalists who appealed for Travel Weekly readers’ votes in personal videos, enjoyed a last-minute surge in support to win the contest after battling neck-and-neck with three other finalists.

Her prize, worth £3,000, includes seven nights’ accommodation in Las Vegas and return flights.

“My first reaction was amazement – I never win anything!” said Helen, customer services manager for Classic Collection Holidays in Worthing, West Sussex.

Attraction WorldShe had planned to marry her partner Simon Type four years ago when family issues meant the whole event had to be cancelled four weeks before the big day.

“We had always toyed with a Las Vegas wedding as we both love it there but it was a pipe dream until now,” added Helen, who was persuaded to enter the Travel Weekly/Attraction World competition by colleague Claire Holden.

Attraction World sales and marketing director Tony Seaman said: “We were delighted at the response to this promotion and Helen is a very worthy winner.

“It sounds like a wedding in Vegas is just what she and her partner need and we look forward to providing her with a trip to remember.”

Meanwhile, our remaining finalists – Claire Reith, Lisa Cooper and Victoria Young – will each receive a runners up prize of a romantic meal with their loved one.

In total our finalists received a massive 2,340 votes. Watch Helen’s winning video again below…
