Century to open two new hotels


HONG Kong-based Century International Hotels is opening two more hotels in the Asia-Pacific region by the end of March 2000.



The 170-room Century Golden Peak Hotel in Cebu is due to open at the end of the year, with the 530-room Century Roxy Park in Singapore scheduled for completion in the first quarter next year.



President and chief executive office Brian Deeson said the group also has projects under way in Samarkand, in Uzbekistan, and North Point in Hong Kong, and is in talks for hotels in Australia and New Zealand.



He added that Century’s aim is to become the leading mid-market hotel management company in Asia-Pacific.



It currently manages 21 hotels and resorts in six Asian countries. “We are actively looking for new management opportunities,” added Deeson.



n Century International opened the Headland Hotel this month at Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong. The four-star property, owned by Cathay Pacific, was built for the airline’s employees plus those of Dragonair and Air Hong Kong.
