Job cuts at American Express Business Travel – 12 July 2007

American Express Business Travel is to make around 100 business travel staff redundant.

Sixty-five jobs are expected to go with the closure of its Basildon branch, while a further 40 members of staff are expected to go from other UK offices. Those affected will be put through a consultation process lasting between one and three months.

A spokeswoman for American Express Business Travelsaid the redundancies were largely due to moving business online but added they were also as a result of a wider streamlining and consolidation of the business.
