Visits abroad by UK residents increased by 2% in the last year, according to figures published by the Office of National Statistics (pdf).
In the last 12 months (ending June 2007) visits increased from 68.1 million to 69.5 million.
However from April to June this year, the number of trips fell by 4% to 16.8 million and spending also decreased by 4% to £8.7 billion compared with the previous three months.
Also in the last year, UK resident visits to Europe were up 1%, North America visits increased 2% and trips to other parts of the world were up 9%.
