Stress is second biggest influence on holiday bookings – 14 Aug 2007

Stress is the deciding factor after price when it comes to booking a holiday, according to a survey carried out by travel website supplier Click with Technology on Facebook.

In a poll of 1,000 users of the social networking site, 40% were encouraged to book a holiday because of stress or workload.

Meanwhile, the UK weather and personal recommendations by a travel agent or friend were the next most important factors, both cited by 20% of respondents.

The rest said it was the convenience of booking online (17%) and being prompted by e-mails or advertisements (3%) that encouraged them to go on holiday.

The results were received within a matter of hours, filled in by 1,000 consumers on Facebook. CWT is regularly tapping into the social networking site to produce low-cost consumer surveys.

Clients include Hays Travel, On Holiday Group, Cruise.co.uk, Holiday Taxis, Teletext Holidays, and a range of smaller retailers.

It is using Facebook’s poll service to provide customers with fast feedback to help them develop their businesses.

CWT head of search marketing Dan Caplin said: “We pay as little as 1p per answer. The results enable our clients to make informed decisions on market trends and tailor marketing spend accordingly.”
