Aer Lingus strike suspended – 21 Aug 2007

Aer Lingus pilots have suspended a planned 48-hour strike due to begin today, pending talks with the airline.

The strike had been called in protest at new rates of pay and conditions for pilots based in Belfast, to which Aer Lingus plans to begin flying from Heathrow.

The carrier announced last month that it was ending services between Heathrow and Shannon in the west of Ireland and moving operations to Belfast.
