Caribbean Tourist Board prepares for free training events – 30 Aug 2007

Caribbean Tourism Organisation is holding ‘Courses for the Caribbean’ training events in September.

The free training programmes involve a day of seminars with meetings, a cocktail reception and gala dinner for up to 200 travel agents.

Courses take place at Durham University on September 4 and 5, or Oxford University on September 18 and 19.

The Oxford training course is fully booked but at the time of going to press there were a few places left on the Durham course.

The 24-hour residential event will unite agents and representatives from all the major Caribbean tourist destinations, as well as many suppliers. The aim is for it to be a one-stop learning shop.

Caribbean Tourism Organisation UK marketing director Julia Hendry said: “From the time agents arrive until they leave the next day, they will be exposed to experts from the entire region, sharing their product knowledge and networking.”

As well as group training sessions, agents will rotate tables at meal times and get the chance to have one-to-one conversations with suppliers.

Agents will also have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the day and everyone will receive a certificate of attendance.

Exhibitors will include major tourist boards, as well as Couples Resorts, Secrets Resorts and Spas, Rex Resorts, Freedom Flights and British Airways. The event is partly sponsored by Travel Weekly.
