Visitor attractions across County Durham and Northumberland are encouraging tourists to chill out during Peace and Tranquillity Week.
The initiative was launched on Saturday by County Durham Tourism Partnership and Northumberland Tourism Partnership after research identified the northeast as the best area in the UK to find rest and relaxation.
Visitors to attractions such as the Bowes Museum and Durham Cathedral can sample t’ai chi workshops, Indian head massages and peaceful strolls.
Local restaurants will also be offering special ‘slow food’ and ‘peace and tranquillity’ menus.
