Silverjet launches second daily service from Luton to New York

Silverjet launched its second daily service from Luton to New York Newark yesterday.

The business class-only low-cost airline departed Luton at 4.45pm, arriving in New York at 7.45pm local time. Return flights are scheduled to depart at 9.45pm locally before landing in the UK at 9.45am.

The airline is also on target to launch its new route to Dubai in November and will fly into the airport’s executive terminal.

Chief executive Lawrence Hunt said: “We expect the service to appeal to our American customers as it will allow them to visit London and return on the same day without the need to spend the night in the city. It will also give added frequency to our offering, which we expect will attract more business air travellers.”

Meanwhile, Silverjet finance director John Bavister has quit as finance director and is being replaced by Martin Lynch who has previously worked for both XL Leisure Group and British Airways.
