Travel 2/4 launches nationwide roadshows for agents

Travel 2/4 plans to run its first travel agent roadshows in several years as it aims to work more closely with the trade.

Roadshows themed by destinations will be held around the country. Up to 50 agents are expected to be invited to attend four roadshows on Australia before the end of the year. Tourist boards, hotel and tour partners linked to the destination will also attend.

Further roadshows on different destinations will be held by the long-haul specialist next year.

Marketing director Alasdair Farrimond said: “In the last couple of years we have not done any roadshows.

“The key reason is to reconnect with agents, to get across our expertise and train them. We are starting off with Australia, our biggest destination, to do some in-depth training.

“Many agents don’t have a lot of knowledge or skills in that area but there are huge opportunities in terms of commission.”

Meanwhile, the company has boosted its sales team to five from four with the appointment of a new account manager Kerry-Ann Markham covering Wales, the southwest and central England and reporting directly into sales director Karen Kelly. She previously worked at De Vere Village Hotel and Leisure Club, Bournemouth, and HotelConnect.
